It’s important to maintain and keep healthy trees in your neighborhood and in your yard.  However, it may not be realistic for an average homeowner to safely remove a large tree from the property on his or her own. Having a tree removed from your property is a serious undertaking. There are many reasons for removing a tree, but one of the main reasons your tree may need to be removed is for the safety of your property and family. Stump Grinding

After we safely remove the main bulk of your tree, you will be left with a stump. This can happen when trees are cut down or when weather damages the tree. Having stumps left behind is not only unpleasing to the eye but they can come with unwanted guests such as termites, ants and even fungal disease.

We will perform the stump grinding process where we use advanced stump grinding equipment to ensure the rest of the stump is buried underground. Stump grinding chips away the stump to around 6-16 inches* depending on how deep the visible roots are. This area is then covered with dust and dirt. The small pieces that were ground up can be used as mulch or ground cover. The remaining root ball and roots after a period of time will decay. We can also haul away the debris and stump, grind down any surrounding roots and add soil to cover the remaining hole.

Tree Removal

Why have a tree removed:

  • The tree is currently dead, or will be in the coming months

  • The tree is infested with damaging insects

  • The tree is suffering from an incurable disease

  • It has grown too large for its location

  • Has sustained irreparable storm damage

  • Is aesthetically out of place in your landscape

Risks of NOT removing trees:

  • They represent a danger to people, homes and property

  • Spread disease and infestation to other trees and plants

  • Encroach upon public spaces – blocking sight lines and violating municipal codes

  • Have a negative impact on property values

York Landscaping & Tree Service is committed to getting the job done, especially when it comes to this service. You can count on us to be professional, timely, efficient and make sure you’re satisfied every step of the way.

*State law requires underground utilities be marked before any digging occurs to avoid damage to main water, sewer, electrical, gas and communication lines. Utility locating services are ordered following tree removal so that the stump is clearly visible for marking.  Stump grinding services are typically completed within 2-5 business days from the tree work schedule date.  If utilities are identified in the immediate area of the stump, state laws prohibit grinding below grade or within 2-ft of any markings and surface grinding is then the only option.  (for more information, visit www.callbeforeyoudig.org)
